CCEPA promotes the public good through the cultivation and dissemination
of knowledge of ethical issues, which helps generate new insights, provide greater awareness, and heal misunderstandings. From
our base in Atlantic Canada the Centre undertakes collaborative research and education on ethics. This Collaboration involves
partnerships with the major shapers of public life: Government, the business community, NGO’s and public service agencies.
Through the provision of consultation services, and the sponsorship of research, public discussion, and education,
the centre assists these partners as they seek to integrate ethics into their public practices and policies.
Research and ProgramsCCEPA has a mandate
to carry out ethics research. The Centre is formulating a research agenda and work in collaboration with other institutions
to design, conduct and communicate the results of ethics research. In parallel to, and our part
of, formulating the search agenda, CCEPA issued a Call for Proposal for Ethics Research in November, 2005. The “Call”
is posted on this website. CCEPA draws on the research strengths and expertise of Atlantic School
of Theology and Saint Mary’s University along with other regional, national and international partners. CCEPA
will also identify and seek sources of funding for a variety of new research programs. CCEPA creates
partnerships with regional organizations and leaders to help them establish practical, successful ethics programs. And
it actively works to integrate ethics courses and study into university curricula. |
